Associate of Applied Science Technology Degree

The two year Technology A.A.S. degree is a combination of four different options with a common set of University and General Education courses. The options are listed below.

Computer Aided Drafting (CAD)

The CAD option will prepare you for employment in a wide range of industries as a technician. Information in related fields is provided to enable you to work effectively with engineers, technologists, architects, and professional staff. This program equips you with the skills to compete for CAD positions ranging from drafter to mechanical designer.

Computer Electronics

Graduates of the computer electronics option are prepared for rewarding careers that include maintaining and installing computers as well as electronics equipment. Students are provided with a sound background in computer electronics by lecture and laboratory coursework that includes electricity, electronics, computers and computer networks. Following successful completion of coursework, students may seek professional certifications in computer hardware, software and networking. A balance of current technical knowledge, co-op experience, and appropriate certifications, ensures graduates are well prepared to pursue careers in the high-demand area of computer electronics.

Digital Imaging Design

The Digital Imaging Design option is designed to prepare graduates to enter the printing and publishing industry in positions such as computer publishing specialist, web page creator, press operator, and others. Students receive hands-on experience with state-of-the art electronic publishing and web design software. In addition, they create and publish printed materials as they gain first hand knowledge of the printing and imaging processes. The associate degree allows graduates to move seamlessly into the Graphic Communications Management BS program without loss of credits.

Quality Assurance

Because there is a nation-wide shortage of qualified people, U.S. Industries are seeking professional men and women who have knowledge and skills in quality assurance. Both women and men with quality assurance training are finding rewarding career opportunities in quality assurance organizations and as production supervisors. The Quality Progress (December 2003, Vol. 36 #12) lists the average salary of U.S. respondents (by highest level of education) with associate degree’s as $54,900 a year.
