  1. CATALOG DESCRIPTION: The emphasis of this course is the electronics hardware involved in Computer Integrated Manufacturing. Topics covered include Programmable Logic Controllers, interfacing devices, sensors, data entry and bar coding, motors and A to D converters.
  2.

  3. PREREQUISITES: MFG 350, Basic Electronics
  4.

  5. CREDIT HOURS: Three (3) semester hours
  6.

  7. TEXTBOOK: None
  8.

  9. MATERIALS: It will be necessary to expand the electronics lab equipment in the following areas: Electric motors and control circuits, servo and stepper motors, microcomputers and programmable controllers, sensors – visual, tactile, sonic, displacement, and physical, bar coding and data acquisition equipment.
  10.

  11. COURSE OBJECTIVES: This course is required of all CIM option majors. Students successfully completing the course should have an understanding of:

    1. Visual, tactile, sonic, displacement, and physical sensors and their uses in a CIM environment.
    2.

    3. Electronics, electromechanical, mechanical, and fluid power interfaces and their uses in a CIM environment.
    4.

    5. Servo and stepper motors. Their design, control, and uses in an automated manufacturing cell.
    6.

    7. Programmable Logic Controllers and their uses in an automated manufacturing environment.
    8.
