In the Fall 2002 semester at EKU, the Graphic Arts Society embarked on a trip to the SGIA convention in St. Louis, MO. While there we experienced all the color, equipment and materials available to the graphics field. We spent an entire day navigating our way through the maze of trade booths and enjoying the gallery on display of the award winners in various areas from the past year. There were posters, printed towels, packaging design, advertisements and movie promotional banners from domestic and foreign lands. Anything imaginable that could be designed and printed on a surface was there. The vastness of exciting design, colors and technology was phenomenal. All who went left St. Louis with bundles and rolls of great samples. Some of the favorites from this year's trip was the Spider Man and Monsters Inc. oversized digital print posters. After the show we seized the opportunity to visit the west's "Gateway", the Arch of St. Louis. We had an exceptional time riding to the top and looking over the city. It was the first time for most to visit the infamous arch. Later we had a great meal and returned tired, but much rewarded for our endeavors. Thanks to Dr. Dailey for his trade connections and desire to provide something more to his students, as well as members of the Graphic Arts Society.

The Graphic Arts Society field trip to St. Louis was awesome. We got all kinds of free stuff and learned a lot about what is going on in the printing industry. It shocked me because everything is digital. Digital printing is definitely here. We all went to the arch and ate lots of good food.
